SUPER SEXY SHADES

Ready to ditch that over- sized eye wear? The new look of the season is sleek with the re-release of Ray-Ban’s classic ‘Wayfarer’ shades. Reported to be the best selling style in history, Wayfarers were outrageously popular in the 80’s thanks to such films as The Blues Brothers and Risky Business. Pick up a pair and keep it cool this season in a tint like basic black.

Stylewatch: Oscars 2007

Hey fashion lovers! Lauren Paige here, ready to dish on all the best highlights from movie’s biggest night, the Oscars.

Love them or hate them, the stars were out in full force this past Sunday, vamping it up for the cameras, as they came together to celebrate their crowning achievements in the prestigious world of film. With shadow dancers, incredible musical performances and funnywoman Ellen DeGeneres as host, this year’s Oscar’s was a show to remember. However, the real show was on the red carpet where Hollywood’s A- list strutted their stuff adorned in custom-made couture, perfectly coiffed hair and millions of dollars worth of jaw-dropping bling. While some celebs epitomized the true meaning of glamour, others garnered a raised eyebrow or two as we were left wondering, ‘What in the world were they thinking?’

So, who wore what, who wore it best, and who just looked like a big, scary mess? Sit back and relax as Bonnie-Love and I count down some of our faves, some of the worst, and some we were just plain undecided on.

Best Dressed

Penelope Cruz- The Best Actress Nominee for Volver was all about high-end glamour from the top of her braided bun to the bottom of her streaming feathered Atelier Versace gown.

Cate Blanchett- The Best Supporting Actress nominee dazzled in her form-flattering metallic Georgio Armani Prive gown and Lorraine Schwartz diamonds.

Emily Blunt- The Devil Wears Prada actress proved she knows what fashion is all about in her midnight blue Calvin Klein dress and H. Stern jewels.

Worst Dressed

Kirsten Dunst-Obviously Kirsten couldn’t decide which look she wanted to convey at the Oscars. Fortunately for her, Chanel pieced together five dresses in one to suit her indecisive mood.

Anne Hathaway- While Anne Hathaway may be trying to shy away from her good girl image, the massive bow on the front of her Valentino dress says otherwise. Maybe she should have worn Prada?

Jennifer Hudson- This dream girl looked more like a nightmare in her alien-inspired cropped python jacket and chocolate Oscar de la Renta gown.

Undecided

Cameron Diaz- Bonnie-Love thinks the Oscar presenter’s white satin Valentino gown was fashionable and sophisticated, but those ridiculous flaps kind of reminded me of a sailboat lost at sea. You be the judge. Smooth sailing? Or shipwreck?

J. Lo- I thought the presenter embodied a Greek goddess in her crystal-covered silk Marchesa gown, Lorraine Schwartz diamond earrings, and soft curls. While the top half of the dress was stunning, Bonnie-Love thought that the bottom was way too frumpy. You decide. Aphrodite? Or gorgeous grandma?

Gwyneth Paltrow- Bonnie Love was in love with the style maven’s tulle-and-chiffon Zac Posen dress. It was both stylish and modern. Yeah. It was modern all right… Just perfect for Spring 2057. You make the call. Trendy fashionista? Or future chic?

Leave out any of your faves? Tell us who earned your vote for best or worst dressed.

The Skinny on Minis

Break out those mini skirts! The 60’s have returned, ready to make a comeback for spring 2007. On the runway, funky bobs, patent leather bags, and geometric shaped dresses were all the rage, setting the tone for this season’s hottest trend.

Ready to unleash your inner flower child? Here’s the skinny on what you’ll need to be prepared:
During the day, think Jackie O. and dress to impress at the office with a belted dress or a feminine, wide leg pantsuit in a neutral tone like beige or white. Accessorize with an oversized bag in a metallic hue and don’t forget the pearls! Try layering a few strands for an optimum effect.

At night shed the suits and get ready to boogie with a Twiggy inspired mini dress. Dangly chandelier earrings and sky-high platforms work best for this look. For fashionistas like pop star, Kylie Minogue, who aren’t afraid to push the envelope, throw on a pair of opaque tights in a sizzling hue like tangerine or fuchsia. Don’t be afraid to go daring with makeup. Eyes should be intense and dramatic with kohl black eyeliner and mascara, while lips should be downplayed in a nude shade.
Screen star, Carmen Elektra, gets the look just right during Fashion Week at the Luca Luca show.

How to do Nude Right

Fooled you by the Heading didn't I. So, as all of you might know the hot new trend for the Winter/Spring season is nude lips. But, nude must be done right. So here are a few guidelines to have sexy nude lips. One little tip to keep in mind: You shouldn't look like you're dying! First, you need to start by moisturizing the lips. If you're having an extreme dry lip day, lightly brush your lips with your toothbrush. Second, pat a small amount of concealer all over lip. Line with a nude lip pencil. Then, apply nude lipstick (atleast one shade darker than your complexion). Some people prefer a glossier nude lip as opposed to a matte finish. In this case, dab a little clear gloss on the center of lips. And Voila! You have perfect nude lips. Always remember, with nude lips you must use either blush or bronzer. So, that you do not look washed out. I recommend Pretty by PR at Partners Bare Lip Pencil and MicroSugar Lipstick.
